Island Paradise

Set 100 years in the future, Island Paradise posits a world  in which nuclear conflagration has been heroically averted, all weapons (supposedly) destroyed and a cult of peace established. Murder is so unspeakable that its very existence is denied. But the price for such peace  is one that all citizens must pay  - Timely Death. As her  time comes near, narrator Laurie thinks back to the events twenty years ago on Island Paradise, a luxurious holiday resort: events which opened her eyes to the way things really are.  A haunting novel which explores politics, violence and the responsibilities we all share when we  consent to be governed.

'This is a remarkable novel, visionary in its descriptions of the future, psychologically and politically rich. Kathy Page's language has passages of striking beauty'
Maggie Gee

'Page's voice is by turns lyrical and laconic, with a narrative dexterity which is reminiscent of Margaret Atwood at her very best' City Limits
